NDSCS Hoops Prepare For Region XIII Tournament
NDSCS Men’s and Women’s basketball will compete in the NJCAA Region XIII Tournament from March 30 – April 5 where the men are the 2-seed and the women are the 3-seed. This year’s event will be hosted by the higher seed in each matchup.
NDSCS Men’s and Women’s basketball will compete in the NJCAA Region XIII Tournament from March 30 – April 5 where the men are the 2-seed and the women are the 3-seed. This year’s event will be hosted by the higher seed in each matchup.
Stu Engen’s group – looking for its first regional championship since 2018 – earned a first-round bye by attaining the 2-seed after a 15-6 regular season record. The Wildcats will await the winner of No. 3 Lake Region and No. 6 Bismarck State. Lake Region won all three regular season meetings with BSC. NDSCS won two of three meetings with Lake Region and swept all three against BSC. Dawson CC is the 1-seed in the tournament.
Adam Jacobson will be coaching in his first Region XIII Tournament as a head coach, where the Wildcats will be looking for their fourth region title in the last five years. The Cats will host Lake Region in the opening round after sweeping all three regular season meetings, part of a 13-8 regular season record. Should they win, they would travel to Glendive, MT for a semifinal matchup with Dawson CC. Dawson won two of the three regular-season contests with NDSCS. Miles CC in the top seed in the tournament.
The Region XIII champion on the men’s side will host the Region XI champion, which is headlined by nationally-ranked Indian Hills. On the women’s side, the champion will receive an automatic berth to the NJCAA National Tournament.
