NDSCS Football Gives Back on Move-In Day

Last Saturday while students and families were adjusting to life on campus, NDSCS Football was trying to do its part to ease the stress of moving to college by helping students transport their belongings from vehicles to the dorms.
In his second year at NDSCS, helping students in their transition to on-campus life is something that Coach Eric Issendorf feels strongly about.
Issendorf, an NDSCS alum himself, remembers what it was like to move into the dorms and the stress and emotion of the day. For he and his players, it’s a chance to invest in an institution that invests in them.
“Most of our players have been here for a month already, so they’re acclimated to the campus and can really help mentor students that maybe don’t know their way around or just need some help getting stuff moved to the dorms,” said Issendorf. “As a student and parent, I know how stressful that day can be, so we just want to help however we can.”
Nearly 100 Wildcats decked out in their NDSCS jersey swarmed campus with arms full of bags, furniture and boxes, with the day helping reinforce some NDSCS Football pillars of selfless service and community.
For Issendorf, it also reinforces the idea that his student-athletes are more than just football players.
“Sometimes in athletics we lose sight that these are more than just student-athletes,” said Issendorf. “It’s a chance for our players to be involved and engaged in the NDSCS community. They get a chance to interact with students and families, showing them what our football program and its players are all about. It’s a great opportunity for them to meet and interact with our guys.”
NDSCS will open the 2019 season at home on Saturday against Fond du Lac. The game is slated for a 2 p.m. kickoff.
