Fresh off of a 27-21 overtime road win over Northland, NDSCS has won four straight games.
In a game where the Cats were outgained, Eric Issendorf’s group found a way to survive in overtime, with Desean Phillips pounding in a three-yard run to end the game.
Freshman quarterback Trashawn McMillan passed for 91 yards and three touchdowns and added another 81 rushing yards. All three TD passes came to different receivers with Austin Lawson, Daveon Williams and Jon Griffin all being on the receiving end.
Mississippi Gulf Coast is the new No. 1 team in the nation, picking up 15 of 16 first-place votes. Northwest Mississippi, Lackawanna (PA), Hutchinson (KS) and Kilgore (TX) round out the top five.
The only MCAC team in the top 20 is No. 18 and currently undefeated Mesabi Range (MN). Rochester is also receiving votes, unofficially coming in at No. 27.
