Both NDSCS basketball squads got back in the win column on Thursday night with lopsided wins over winless United Tribes Tech teams.
NDSCS Women (3-3) jumped out to a quick start – grabbing a 23-6 advantage after the first quarter – and never looked back, cruising to a 78-46 victory.
The Wildcats forced 20 turnovers and outrebounded Tribes 45-36.
Sophomores Zaraya March and Arthel Massaquoi each recorded double-doubles. March tallied 15 points and 14 rebounds, to go along with six assists and four steals. Massaquoi added 13 points and 13 rebounds.
March is off to a historic start. She holds national rankings in steals (4th), rebounds (4th) and points (5th). She has four double-doubles this season after having two all of last year. She’s also shooting 61 percent from the field.
Freshman Ambah Kowcun scored a game-high 25 points. It’s her fifth game of 20 or more points this season. Her 135 points is the nation’s second-highest total and she also ranks seventh in points per game (22.5).
NDSCS Men Thrash United Tribes
In what was an equally dominant performance, the men remained undefeated at home and extended their home winning streak to 10 games with a 106-54 win.
The Cats opened the game with a 25-4 spurt. They would extend to a 48-23 halftime lead. NDSCS never trailed in the game.
Freshman Kareeme Davis Jr. paced four Wildcats in double figures with a career-high 16 points and seven rebounds. Anthony Ignowski added 12 points, eight rebounds and five assists in making his first start at Ed Werre Arena. Sophomore Ty Horner chipped in 12 points and six rebounds and freshman Logan Jedwabny recorded his first career double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds.
NDSCS continued its blistering run at home that has seen the Cats win 10 straight. In three games at Ed Werre Arena the Wildcats are averaging 102 PPG and shooting 47 percent from 3-point range. They’ve won those three games by a combined 128 points and are allowing just 59 PPG at home.

NDSCS will visit Bismarck State on Monday and will follow that up with a trip to Devil’s Lake on Wednesday to take on Lake Region State for the second time.
