NDSCS Continue Perfect Start With 3-0 Road Trip
North Dakota State College of Science continued its torrid start to the 2020 season with a perfect weekend in Rochester, Minnesota with wins over Lake Region State (8-3), Gogebic CC (25-1) and Ellsworth CC (8-0) hiking the Wildcats record to 6-0 on the year.

North Dakota State College of Science continued its torrid start to the 2020 season with a perfect weekend in Rochester, Minnesota with wins over Lake Region State (8-3), Gogebic CC (25-1) and Ellsworth CC (8-0) hiking the Wildcats record to 6-0 on the year.
And again, it was dominant pitching and big bats leading the way.
Freshman Demi Uffelman improved to 2-0 with the win over Lake Region State, striking out seven in six innings before classmate Syd Schott closed the final inning with a pair of strikeouts.
Sophomore Maddy Sweep brought the big stick, going 2-for-4 with a solo home run. Freshman Regin Suchla with 2-for-4 as well, finishing with three RBI.
As a team, the Cats stole five bases.
The second game of the weekend saw NDSCS put on an offensive clinic with a season-high 25 runs. It is the most runs scored in a single contest since 2016.
Sweep tallied four hits. Freshman Taylor Erickson went 2-for-4 with three RBI. Ria Thomegreene went 3-for-5 with a pair of doubles and four RBI. Schott showed she can get it done in the box and the circle, going 3-for-5 from the plate with a pair of RBI, while pitching fiving innings, striking out seven and allowing just one hit.
NDSCS finished the game with 20 hits.
The final game of the day was another defensive clinic.
Schott moved to 4-0 on the season in the 8-0 win, striking out eight and allowing just one hit. She also went 2-for-4 at the plate with a pair of RBI.
Sweep finished a stellar weekend with another 2-for-4 outing while also stealing four bases. Erickson went 1-for-2 with two RBI.
NDSCS will be idle until next month’s southern road trip to Kansas City.
