Sophomore SS Maddy Sweep Named National Player of the Week

NDSCS sophomore Maddy Sweep was named the NJCAA Division III Player of the Week for her performance last week in Rochester Feb. 17-23.

Sweep, a short stop from Casselton, N.D., guided the Wildcats to a 3-0 record, going 8-for-13 from the plate. Her eight hits included a home run. She drove in three runs and scored nine. Sweep also stole seven bases, including a season-high four against Ellsworth CC.

For the season she’s batting .571 with a .591 on-base percentage and 1.048 slugging percentage. In six games she’s totaled 12 hits and 12 runs with five RBI and nine stolen bases.

NDSCS is a perfect 6-0 on the season. The Cats are idle until a six-game southern road trip on March 16-18 where they’ll see Metropolitan CC, Kansas City Kansas CC and Southwestern CC.
