North Dakota State College of Science sophomore Kate Carlson was named the Mon-Dak Conference Player of the Week following a big weekend in Council Bluffs, Iowa.
Carlson, a 6-foot-1 forward from Madison, Wisconsin, led the Wildcats in scoring as they picked up a pair of pivotal, Division One wins over Jefferson College and Iowa Western. Against Jefferson College, Carlson recorded a double-double, finishing with 13 points and 11 rebounds in just 19 minutes. She followed that up by scoring 12 points and grabbing four rebounds in a head-to-head battle with Illinois commit Solape Amusan.
Her second season at NDSCS has seen her average 10.3 points and 7.2 rebounds, shooting 51 percent from the field and 77 percent from the free throw line with a pair of double-doubles. She currently leads the Mon-Dak in offensive rebounds (41) and is tied for the lead in total rebounds (86). She’s also fourth in free throws made.
NDSCS is 11-1 on the season, currently riding a 10-game winning streak. The Wildcats are in action, at home, this weekend in the Baymont Inn Classic. They’ll host Division 2 No. 11 Bryant & Stratton on Friday and Jamestown JV on Saturday.
