NDSCS Women Earn No. 2 Seed in Region XIII Tournament
NDSCS women’s basketball capped the 2019-20 regular season with a 71-50 win over Dakota College at Bottineau. That win, coupled with a Miles CC loss to United Tribes, gave the Cats the No. 2 seed in the Region XIII Tournament and a first-round bye.

It was another successful regular season for Tom Drybrugh and NDSCS.
The Cats went 24-6, finishing third in the Mon-Dak Conference Preseason Tournament and second in the regular season Mon-Dak Conference standings after going 11-3 in league play.
Dryburgh’s group went 12-2 at home, 7-3 on the road and 5-1 on neutral courts. Dryburgh himself reached his 150th win of his career and advanced his record at Ed Werre Arena to 80-11 in his six seasons.
As a team, the Cats were one of the top defensive units in the nation, ranking 15th in opponent points per game (55.7), 24th in opponent field goal percentage (34.6) and 29th in steals per game (12.).
The regular season saw sophomore Kate Carlson lead the team in scoring (13.8) and rebounding (8.0). Freshman Zaraya March led the team in assists (2.7) and steals (2.4).
Carlson was ever better in conference play, finishing first in FG percentage (57.6), fifth in scoring (16.9) and sixth in rebounding (7.9). Sophomore Nikki Metcalfe finished seventh in rebounding (7.0) and March finished eighth in steals (2.2).
NDSCS will play the winner between No. 3 Miles CC and No. 6 Williston State on Saturday, Feb. 29, at 1 p.m. in Bismarck. The Region XIII championship is set for Sunday, March 1, at 1 p.m. with the winner hosting the Region IV winner on Saturday, March 7, with a trip to the NJCAA National Tournament in Lubbock, Texas at stake.
