Hosting Division Two No. 11 Bryant & Stratton on Friday night, the Wildcats used yet another balanced attack and physical presence to overwhelm the smaller Bobcats, 90-82.
NDSCS (13-1) placed five players in double figures – led by 18 points and 12 rebounds from sophomore Kate Carlson – and enjoyed a plus-22 rebounding margin in what was yet another marque win for Tom Dryburgh’s group.
The Cats scored at least 20 points in every quarter, entering the fourth quarter with a 14-point advantage.
Sophomore Monique Wooten finished with 18 points off the bench. Classmate Nikki Metcalfe added 15 points and seven rebounds. Freshmen Zaraya March and Emily-Kate Parker each added 11 points. March also chipped in six rebounds and seven assists.
Saturday saw NDSCS get a scare from a scrappy Jamestown JV group that overcame a double-digit second-half deficit and sank a game-tying buzzer-beater to force overtime.
While the extra session was back-and-forth, a late steal and layup by sophomore Emma Ogitchida sealed the deal in the game’s final moments.
Parker (18 points) and March (15 points) made key plays late. Wooten added 10 points off the bench. The Wildcats forced 25 turnovers which led to 27 points. They also outscored JU 13-2 on second-chance points.
NDSCS hasn’t lost a game in nearly six weeks and its lone loss came to currently undefeated Bismarck State. The Cats will close the 2019 portion of their schedule on Wednesday with a trip to Norfolk, Neb. to take on Northeast (12-2). The Hawks two losses have come against D2 No. 3 North Iowa Area CC (9-0) and NDSCS.
