Wildcats take down Tetons
After beating Lake Region Community College to advance to the region 13 championchip the Wildcats faced off against the #1 seed Williston State Tetons on their home court for the Region 13 championship in a game that did not dissapoint. The Wildcats got out to an early lead ending the first quarter with a score of NDSCS 15 Williston 9, but the Tetons made some runs in the second quarter narrowing the deficite to just 1 point heading into half. The halftime score was 23-24 in favor of the Cats. The 3rd quarter was a battle on both ends with only a combined 15 points being scored from both teams. Late in the 4th the game coninued to go back and forth with several ties and lead changes, the wildcats were up 2 with 5.7 secinds left on the clock and Williston in possesion of the ball. NDSCS fouled on a shot attemnpt and Williston made both of their freeethrows evening up the score with only 1.7 seconds left in regulation. The Wildcats were unable to score and we headed into overtime. The Wildcats were down to start overtime but battled back and took a late lead that thery were able to hang onto. Savvana Jones made some big freethrows throughout overtime to gain and maintain th elead for the cats. The final score in this one was 57-54 NDSCS with the Wildcats winning the Region 13 title yet again.
The Wildcats were led by Savanna Jones 14 points 5 rebounds 8-8 8-8 from the freethrow line and 3-3 from the field, Shania Nichols-Vannett 14 points 11 rebounds, Other notable contributors were Michelle Arens 12 points, Jordan Toman 10 points, Quinn Neppl 10 rebounds, Mckena Koolmo 0 turnovers, and Cassandra Ross 4 rebounds.
