39 NDSCS Student-Athletes Named to Mon-Dak Academic Team

The Mon-Dak Conference released its 2020-21 Academic Team, which included 39 NDSCS student-athletes. To be honored, student-athletes needed to maintain a 3.0 GPA throughout the entire academic year.

Kortney Carney Signs With D1 North Dakota

NDSCS sophomore setter Kortney Carney has signed with Division One Summit League member North Dakota University. An All-Region 13 performer this year, Carney helped lead the Wildcats to a 21-3 record, finishing seventh nationally in assists per set (10.53) and eighth in total assists (821).

Perham Native Stella Raser Signs With NDSCS

NDSCS Volleyball has announced the signing of Stella Raser. A Perham, Minnesota native, Raser was a two-time All-Conference selection. The 6-foot outside hitter was also a standout on the basketball court, earning All-Conference honors there as well. Raser is also a state championship in skeet shooting.

Ally Gruber Named Region 13 Player of the Year; Passa Coach of the Year

NDSCS Volleyball cleaned up in awards following a perfect run through conference and regional play with sophomore Ally Gruber being named league Player of the Year. Classmates Kortney Carney and Kaitlyn Emmil joined Gruber on the All-Region 13 Team.

No. 14 NDSCS Sweeps No. 19 Bismarck State To Claim Region XIII Title

NDSCS Volleyball continued what has been a historic season with a 3-0 sweep of No. 19 Bismarck State College on Wednesday, claiming the Region XIII championship – the program’s 15th regional title overall and fifth in the last seven years.

NDSCS advanced to the Region XIII Championship with a 3-0 sweep of Dakota College at Bottineau on Monday night.

NDSCS Volleyball Ends Regular Season With Win; Top Seed in Region XIII Tournament

NDSCS Volleyball ended the 2020 season the way it started... with a sweep. The Cats capped a perfect 3-0 week with a 3-0 sweep of Mon-Dak foe Dawson Community College on Sophomore Night. The win concluded what has been an incredible regular season for NDSCS with an 18-1 record, Mon-Dak Conference championship and the top seed in the Region XIII Tournament.

Ally Gruber Signs With Lake Superior State

Ally Gruber didn’t really have much of a say in becoming a volleyball player. The North Dakota State College of Science sophomore came by it honestly. Gruber’s sisters Katie, Sarah, Maggie and Becca all helped lead Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa (MN) to Section championships. Sarah went on to play at Wisconsin-Superior, Maggie played at MSU-Moorhead and Becca is an NDSCS alum that finished her career at St. Cloud State. “I grew up watching my sisters and cousins play; they’re the reason I got into it,” said Gruber. “Volleyball is huge in my family and it was a legacy I couldn’t wait to be a part of.” Gruber – the baby of the bunch – will add another chapter to that family legacy after signing with D2 GLIAC member Lake Superior State, choosing LSSU over NSIC and MIAC programs.

NDSCS sophomore Zaraya March – a 5-foot-7 guard from Minneapolis – was named the NJCAA D1 National Player of the Week for Feb. 15-21.

NDSCS sophomore Kaitlyn Emmil – a 5-foot-9 outside hitter from Bismarck – was named Mon-Dak Conference Player of the Week for the first time in her career.

NDSCS Volleyball continued its dominant start to the season with its sixth straight sweep, this time routing Williston State 3-0 (25-9, 25-17, 25-17) at Ed Werre Arena.

Kortney Carney Named NJCAA National Player of the Week

NDSCS sophomore setter Kortney Carney (Moorhead, MN) has been named the NJCAA D2 National Player of the Week following a string of dominant performances. Carney complied 115 assists, 37 digs and 12 kills – including a season-high 44 assists vs. Bottineau – leading the Wildcats to a 3-0 record. She’s currently second nationally in assists per set (12.78) and also ranks top five in digs per set (4.11) and blocks per set (.56) for setters.

North Dakota State College of Science made its first appearance in the NJCAA DII Top 20 Poll this week, making the largest jump of the week to No. 10 following a perfect 3-0 week.

NDSCS vs. Lake Region Volleyball Games Postponed

NDSCS Volleyball has postponed both matches this week with Lake Region State. The two teams were set to compete today (2/9) in Devil’s Lake with a return trip to Wahpeton on Wednesday (2/10). Both matches were postponed due to COVID precautions.
