The Lady Wildcats finished their last three regular season conference games on the road starting with a 78-73 win this past Monday against United Tribes.
NDSCS had a two-point lead to enter the fourth quarter and only outscored the Thunderbirds by three points to give them a five-point win. Lauren Johnson led the team with 23 points. Monique Wooten had 13 points and Nikki Metcalfe added 11 points. Tera-Nay Lee dominated the boards with eight rebounds on the night.
With a quick turnaround, The Lady Wildcats headed to Devils Lake to take on Lake Region State College this past Wednesday. After a slow start and trailing the Royals 37-30 at halftime, NDSCS had a strong third quarter tying the game at 49 going into the fourth quarter. The game would go into overtime and the Wildcats would outscore the Royals 8-4 giving them a 71-67 victory.
Freshman Nikki Metcalfe and Kate Carlson each had a team high 14 points. Lauren Johnson added 10 points and Tera-Nay Lee had a career high 10 points
The Wildcats finished out regular season conference play at Dakota College at Bottineau on Sunday with an 83-61 win. Four Wildcats were in double-digits with Lauren Johnson leading the way with 18 points. Abby Johnson had 15 points; Justyna Butler added 13 points and seven rebounds while Sophomore Olivia Bell had 10 points.
Going into this game, the Wildcats and Bismarck State were tied for a second place finish in conference play. Bismarck State lost to Dawson Community College putting the Wildcats ahead one game and securing the second seed heading into the regional tournament.
NDSCS will now head to Miles Community College for the Region 13 Tournament. The Wildcats' first game will be Saturday, March 2 against the winner of Bismarck State and Williston State.
