NDSCS Women Extend Winning Streak to 10 with two wins in Iowa
North Dakota State College of Science Women’s Basketball extended its winning streak to 10 straight games over the weekend, picking up a pair of wins over Jefferson College (MO) and Iowa Western as part of the Reiver Thanksgiving Classic.

North Dakota State College of Science Women’s Basketball extended its winning streak to 10 straight games over the weekend, picking up a pair of wins over Jefferson College (MO) and Iowa Western as part of the Reiver Thanksgiving Classic.
It was two of the Wildcats most impressive wins of the season, with both being Division One opponents.
Jefferson College entered the game at 6-3 and, despite having four players 6-foot-1 or taller, got outrebounded 45-22 by NDSCS in a 60-51 decision.
Sophomores Nikki Metcalfe and Kate Carlson were able to hold their own in the post, with Metcalfe scoring four points and adding nine rebounds, while Carlson continued her dominance off the bench with a 13-point, 11-rebound double-double.
Sophomore point guard Justyna Butler added 15 points. Freshman Zaraya March had 11 rebounds, three assists and three steals to go along with her seven points.
The Cats followed that up by making quick work of the tournament host Reivers in a 60-45 win on Saturday evening.
After trailing 14-10 after 10 minutes, NDSCS outscored Iowa Western 36-17 over the course of the second and third quarters.
Tom Dryburgh’s defense held IWCC to just 26 percent shooting from the field, forcing the Reivers into 21 turnovers and limiting Illinois commit Solape Amusan to just two points.
Carlson again led the team in scoring with 12 points off the bench.
Sophomore Emma Ogitchida added nine points and nine rebounds. March again had a solid all-around game with seven points, three rebounds, three assists, three steals and a block.
The Cats outrebounded Iowa Western 40-31.
NDSCS now has five Division One wins and hasn’t lost a game in nearly a month. Their dominance extends across the box score with the Cats outscoring opponents 76-50, outrebounding them by nearly double digits and forcing 25 turnovers per game.
Bismarck State is the only team to beat NDSCS this season and the Mystics are currently undefeated (7-0).
NDSCS will return to action this coming weekend, hosting Bryant & Stratton College and Jamestown JV un the NDSCS Baymont Inn Classic.
