NDSCS Women Take 3rd at Mon-Dak Conference Preseason Tournament
NDSCS went 2-1 last weekend at the Mon-Dak Conference Preseason Tournament in New Town. The Wildcats claimed third place in the event.

NDSCS went 2-1 last weekend at the Mon-Dak Conference Preseason Tournament in New Town. The Wildcats claimed third place in the event.
The Wildcats opened with an 87-66 first round win over United Tribes. Sophomore Monique Wooten led NDSCS with 16 points and eight steals. Classmate Emma Ogitchida joined her in double-figure scoring (12 points) as well as eight steals. Overall, five players reached double figures and the team forced 39 turnovers, which led to 50 points. The Wildcats also received 38 bench points.
In the semifinals, NDSCS lost to eventual tournament champion Bismarck State, 66-59. Sophomore Emma Nielsen scored a team-high 15 points, shooting 5-for-12 from 3-point range. Ogitchida joined her in double figures with 12 points and eight rebounds. NDSCS trailed by as much as 16 in the first half but was able to cut the deficit to just three points with 90 seconds remaining in the game. However, the Mystics ended the game with the final four points.
In the third-place game, NDSCS knocked off last year’s champs Miles behind another impressive comeback. The Wildcats trailed by as much as 12 in the third quarter but closed the game with a 33-16 spurt. Freshman Zaraya March finished with 15 points, leading three Wildcats in double figures.
NDSCS will hit the floor again on Monday, Nov. 11, in its home-opener against Sisseton College. The game is slated for a 6 p.m. tipoff.
