Tori Uhlich's Strong Eye Leads Wildcats Past Ridgewater College
NDSCS goes 2-0 against Ridgewater. Falls to SUNY Niagra
Tori Uhlich showed a strong eye at the plate on Saturday, as Uhlich walked three times while leading the Wildcats to a 16-6 victory over Ridgewater College.
The Wildcats got on the board in the bottom of the first inning after Masen Allmaras singled to center field, and Ryan Loewe hit a sac fly, each scoring one run.
Another run was added in the second after Allmaras singled down the right field line. Ridgewater College tied the game in the top of the fourth thanks to a sac fly and an error.
The Wildcats flipped the game on its head in the bottom of the fourth, scoring eight runs on seven hits to take the lead, 11-3. The biggest blow in the inning was a triple by Allmaras following a 6-pitch-at-bat that drove in two.
Trace King earned the win for the Wildcats. The hurler gave up five hits and three runs over two one-third innings, striking out one and walking two. Ben Clouse started the game for the Wildcats. The starter surrendered four hits and three runs (one earned) over three and two-thirds innings, striking out three and walking three.
The Wildcats piled up 15 hits in the game. Allmaras led the Wildcats with three hits in three at bats. Loewe, Griffin Albrecht, and Carter Maasjo each collected multiple hits for the Wildcats. Uhlich led the 'Cats with three walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, collecting 12 walks for the game. Wrigley Gunderson and Uhlich each stole multiple bases for the Wildcats. NDSCS ran wild on the base paths, tallying seven stolen bases for the game. NDSCS turned one double play in the game.
The Wildcats were again triumphant over Ridgewater College 6-1 on Saturday. NDSCS got on the board in the first inning after Ryan Loewe singled, scoring two runs. The 'Cats added one run in the second. Masen Allmaras singled to left field, making the score 3-0.
Hudson Ver Steeg earned the win for the Wildcats. The southpaw allowed five hits and one run over five and one-third innings, striking out five and walking one. Orrin Rosenau threw one inning of shutout ball for the Wildcats in relief. The righty surrendered one hit, striking out one and walking one.
The Wildcats piled up 12 hits in the game. Skyler Fields led NDSCS with three hits in four at bats. Loewe and Stanley Belaskie each drove in two runs for the Wildcats. Tori Uhlich collected two hits for the Wildcats in four at bats.
NDSCS fell to SUNY Niagra by scores of 0-10 and 5-6 on Sunday.
The 'Cats will resume play tomorrow against Moraine Valley Community College.
