NDSCS Baseball Goes 4-4 in Florida

The NDSCS Baseball team played eight games down in Florida these past two weeks. The Wildcats picked up two wins against Ridgewater (twice), SUNY Adirondack, and Northland CTC.
Recap of the NDSCS SUNY Adirondack game:
The Wildcats took Thursday's game in dramatic fashion with an 11-10 walk-off win over SUNY Adirondack. With the score tied at 10 in the bottom of the ninth, Carter Maasjo singled scoring the game winning run. The Wildcats had 14 hits in the game. SUNY Adirondack opened the scoring in the second after an error scored the first run. NDSCS had a huge third inning where they scored six runs on three hits to go up 6-1. Stanley Belaskie had a three RBI single in the third. SUNY Adirondack were able to build a 10-8 lead in the top of the eigth inning. The 'Cats were able to capture the lead in the bottom of the ninth after Ryan Loewe grounded into a fielder's choice, and Maasjo singled to center both scoring a run. Nick Zach earned the win for the Wildcats. The reliever gave up three hits and two runs over one and two-thirds innings, striking out six and walking three. Ben Clouse started on the hill for NDSCS. Clouse allowed four hits and five runs (two earned) over five and one-third innings, striking out eight and walking four. Owen Hoyme and Tate Dekok each appeared in relief for NDSCS.
The Wildcats collected 14 hits in the game. Tori Uhlich set the tone at the top of the lineup leading the team with five hits in five at bats. Skyler Fields and Maasjo each collected multiple hits for the Wildcats. NDSCS had patience at the plate accumulating 10 walks for the game. The Wildcats also collected 11 stolen bases for the game while their defense turned three double plays in the game.
Recap of the Northland game:
Tori Uhlich had four hits in five at bats as the Wildcats defeated Northland CTC 17-5. Uhlich doubled in the first, singled in the third, fifth, and sixth innings. The Wildcats scored six runs on two hits in the top of the third. The Wildcats also scored five runs on three hits in the top of the seventh inning to continue building their lead. Garrett Solberg got the win on the day for the 'Cats. Solberg didn't give up a hit or a run through four innings while striking out five and walking four. Jack Davies, Cooper Klosterman, and Orrin Rosenau all had relief appearances for NDSCS. The Wildcats had nine hits in the game. The team also were able to put together 15 walks on the game helping them to the win. NDSCS had another big day stealing bases with a total of 14 on the game.
