Baseball Picks Up Two Big Wins Against BSC
Eight Run Inning in Game Two Boosts Wildcats
The NDSCS Baseball team picked up two wins against Bismarck State College on Wednesday by scores of 8-3 and 8-7.
The first game saw Dyllon Geiser pitch a complete game going all seven innings giving up seven hits, three runs (all earned), five walks, and five strikeouts. The Wildcats got off to a quick start scoring four runs in the first and were able to build on their lead from there as the pitching and defense held steady throughout the game. Ryan Loewe went 2-4 with two RBIs and two runs scored. Griffin Albrecht went 2-3 at the plate with two RBIs and a run scored. Dawson Crowe also was 2-3 at the plate with two RBIs. Skyler Fields added an RBI himself. The Wildcats scored eight runs on 10 hits and committed zero errors on the game leading to an 8-3 victory in game one.
A wild sixth inning for the Wildcats was the story of game two. The Wildcats entered the sixth inning down by a score of 0-5 before NDSCS scored eight runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to give them a three run lead heading into the seventh. BSC was able to score two runs in the top of the seventh inning, but that wouldn't be enough as the Wildcats came away with an 8-7 victory and a series sweep. Trace King got the start where he went five innings giving up four hits, four earned runs, and struck out four batters. Tate DeKok got the win pitching the seventh inning. Masen Allmaras was key at the plate where he went 2-4 with three RBIs and run scored. Albrecht had another two RBI game while Loewe, Crowe, and Stanley Belaskie each had an RBI.
The Wildcats move to 10-20 on the year and will play at Lake Region State College later today for two games before traveling to Williston to play four games on Saturday and Sunday.
