Baseball Splits With Alexandria
VerSteeg Pitches Gem in Game Two
The Wildcats Baseball team hosted Alexandria Technical & Community College for a double header on Wednesday where they split wins with the first game going to Alexandria 9-4 and the second game going to Science 12-0.
The Wildcats were able to get the scoring started when Skyler Fields hit a sacrifice fly scoring Masen Allmaras. Tori Uhlich hit an RBI single in the second to score Dawson Crowe to tie the game up at 2 a piece. Alexandria would score seven runs in the next couple of innings before the 'Cats cut the lead to 3-9. The Wildcats would get one more run in the seventh, but would eventually fall by a score of 9-4.
The second game saw Hudson VerSteeg go all five innings giving up three hits, two walks, four strikeouts, and not giving up a single run. Not only was the pitching great, the Wildcats didn't commit a single error on the game. The bats were hot for NDSCS as Uhlich (2), Fields (3), and Ryan Loewe (2) each have multiple hits on the game. Uhlich added three runs scored and two RBIs with a stolen base. Fields and Loewe had three RBIs each.
NDSCS finishes the season with a 13-25 overall record with an 8-16 Mon-Dak Conference record.
The Wildcats will next play in the Region tournament in St. Cloud, MN starting May 9-11. Opponent and game times are TBD.
