Baseball Season Concludes in St. Cloud
Wildcats Win Two of Four in Region XIII Tournament
The NDSCS Baseball team traveled to St. Cloud, MN to play in the Region XIII Baseball Tournament. The Wildcats came into the tournament as the 7 seed and took on 10 seeded Hibbing in the first game.
Hudson VerSteeg got the start in game one against Hibbing where he went five innings giving up only one earned run and had six strikeouts. Jack Davies came in for relief having a great outing giving up only two hits and two walks with only one earned run. The Wildcats put together 14 hits in the game including a big day from Dawson Crowe who went 4-5 with three RBIs. Masen Allmaras had a big game as well where he hit a home run and had a total of six RBIs. Carter Maasjo added two RBIs while Skyler Fields had two stolen bases on the game. In the end, the 'Cats were able to come away with a 13-6 victory to move on in the bracket.
Game two pit NDSCS against host SCTCC where both teams put up big numbers on the offensive leading to 25 combined runs scored. Fields drove in four runs while Ryan Loewe and Ben Clouse drove in two each. The Wildcats walked 15 times on the game including four each from Tori Uhlich and Max Heen. The Wildcats held a 12-8 lead going into the bottom of the ninth before the Cyclones put five runs on the board to come out on top 12-13.
The Wildcats played Ridgewater in their third game where Ridgewater got off to a quick 3-0 lead. NDSCS pulled through in the third scoring five runs to give them a 5-3 lead. The Wildcats would hold onto that lead and continue to build on it the rest of the game leading them to a 13-5 victory. Allmaras hit another home run in the tourney to go along with three RBIs. Fields and Stanley Belaskie each had three RBIs while Uhlich added two more.
The Wildcats would again run into SCTCC where the Cyclones would come out hot and were able to put up big numbers. The Wildcats
