NDSCS Earns First Round Bye with Win
NDSCS finishes the season 7-1.
In a game that saw a total of 837 yards gained between the two teams on offense, NDSCS's defense made the final play to seal the deal against RCTC. With only 10 yards to go and 15 seconds left in the game, RCTC went for a fade ball to the right side and Jereal Lewis made a tip play, and Avann Salman made the interception to seal the game for the Wildcats. This win puts the Wildcats at 7-1 on the season and 6-0 in the MCAC for year finishing in first place.
NDSCS had a huge day on the ground running the ball a total of 46 times for 322 yards. Michael Douglas Jr led the way on the ground with 17 carriers for 146 yards and two touchdowns. Ishmael Emmanuel-Holloway got the start at quarterback and was able to rush for 106 yards on 14 carries and a score. He also went 8-12 with 91 yards through the air. Sam Burkel also got into the endzone for the Wildcats on the ground.
The Yellowjackets had a big day through the air with their quarterback Joseph Russell going 28-38 for 406 yards and 2 touchdowns. Jaylen Williams had 9 catches for 270 yards and a touchdown for the Yellowjackets. The Wildcats were able to come away with three interceptions, one by Salman, Daevion Farrow, and Cole Huesers.
NDSCS will have a bye in the first round and will then play on October 27th at 1:30 PM at Frank Vertin Field in Wahpeton. NDSCS will play the winner of MSCTC Fergus Falls and Minnesota North College-Vermillion.
If NDSCS were to win on the 27th, they would then play in St. Cloud, MN on November 3rd for the MCAC Postseason and Region 13 Championship. From there, it comes down to a vote who will play in the National Championship based on those votes.
