The NDSCS Men's basketball team took on Rochester CTC and Anoka-Ramsey CC this past weekend at the DCTC Classic in Inver Grove Heights, MN.
Poor shooting and turnovers plagued NDSCS as they dropped the opening game of the day to Rochester CTC 69-73. The Wildcats struggled to adjust to the changing defenses and pressure from the Yellow Jackets as they finished the game shooting 38.6% from the field and 33.3% from beyond the arc. NDSCS outrebounded RCTC 44-41.
Sam Baker (Fr.), St. Paul, MN, led the offense for NDSCS as he finished with 26 points and connected 4 times from 3-point land. Melvin Newbern Jr. (So.), New Hope, MN, led the Wildcats on the glass with 11 boards and also added 18 points.

On day two of the DCTC Classic, career nights from Johnnie Turner III (So.) and Sam Baker propelled the Wildcats to a bounce back win over Anoka-Ramsey as they dispatched the Golden Rams 96-81.
Turner III, a Minneapolis, MN native, finished the night with 17 points on a perfect 7-7 shooting from the field. Johnnie also added nine rebounds and five assists. Sam Baker was hot from all over the floor as he drained 6 treys on his way to 26 point, shooting 81.8% from the field.
Melvin Newbern Jr. finished the night with his second consecutive double-double, posting 16 points and 13 rebounds.
The Wildcat offense ran efficiently all day as they shot 50.7% from the field and connected on 15 three pointers while assisting on 28 baskets. NDSCS also won the battle of the boards as they outrebounded ARCC 41-35.
The Wildcats open up Mon-Dak Conference play Monday, January 8th at home against United Tribes Technical College at 7:30 PM.
