NDSCS men's basketball opened up Mon-Dak Conference play Monday night as they hosted United Tribes Technical College. This was the Wildcats' first game of the new semester and first back in the BAC after coming off a road trip to the Twin Cities last weekend.
The Wildcats rode the back of Melvin Newbern Jr. (So.) offensively, as he racked up 32 points on a stellar 15 of 19 shooting performance. Freshman Oman Oman, Austin, MN, also provided a scoring punch for NDSCS as he tallied 15 points and knocked down a trio of shots from three point land.
Rebounds were not at a premium for the Wildcats as they dominated the rebounding battle 52-20, while corralling 23 boards on the offensive end. Newbern Jr. led the team with 11 rebounds while Johnnie Turner III (So.) and Marquis Holloman (Fr.), South St. Paul, MN, finished with 8 boards apiece.
