NDSCS Stays Hot in Conference
NDSCS picked up two more wins in conference play by defeating Williston State and Dakota College - Bottineau this past week.
On Monday night, the Wildcats came out of the box locked in defensively holding Williston to four points in the first eight minutes and just 25 first half points. Marquis Holloman (Fr.) had four steals for NDSCS as they forced Williston into 17 turnovers.
Stevin Lipp (Fr.) was the high point man for the Wildcats as he poured in 19 points on 7 of 12 shooting, while draining 5 threes. Melvin Newbern Jr. (So.) and Johnnie Turner III (So.) both recorded double doubles as Newbern finished with 18 points and 15 rebounds and Turner recorded 11 points with 11 rebounds, respectively.
The Cats dominated the glass, outrebounding the Tetons 45 to 31 while cleaning up 22 of their own misses. Four Wildcats scored in double figures in the 74-58 win.

On Thursday night, defense and rebounding were key again for the Cats as they held Bottineau under 30 points in both halves en route to an 86-52 victory.
Defensively, NDSCS created 18 Lumberjack turnovers and were led by Ismail Soumare (Fr.) who drew three charges. The Wildcats were effective crashing the glass once again as they corralled 19 offensive rebounds and 47 total to Bottineau's 28. Melvin Newbern (So.) and Sam Baker (Fr.) finished with 15 and 8 rebounds, respectively.
On the offensive end, the Cats controlled the ball and assisted on 21 makes to just 11 turnovers. Newbern and Baker put together efficient nights as Baker scored 23 and Newbern finished with 19. Marquis Holloman (Fr.) also added 13 while knocking down three shots from beyond the arc.
With the two wins, the Wildcats improve to 18-4 on the season and remain undefeated in Mon-Dak play (6-0). Next up, NDSCS heads to Sisseton Wahpeton College on Monday, January 29th with tip-off set for 7:00 PM.
