Wildcats Split Pair of Mon-Dak Contests
The Wildcats split a pair of Mon-Dak games with United Tribes TC and Dawson CC.
In a run and gun shootout, NDSCS defeated United Tribes Technical College on the road last Thursday night 121-98. The Wildcats shot 54% from the field and 67% from the 3 point land and pounded the Thunderbirds on the glass, outrebounding them 50-27.
Sam Baker was on fire from downtown as he drained 10 of 16 threes on his way to a game and career high 44 points. Melvin Newbern Jr. contributed 23 points and six rebounds while making all nine of his free throw attempts. Johnnie Turner III put together a solid all-around game as he tallied 14 points and also racked up team highs in rebounds and assists with eight each.
With the victory, the Wildcats improve to 20-4 and 7-0 in conference play.

On Monday night the Wildcats dropped a close game at home to Dawson CC 70-72.
NDSCS put together a solid first half as they went into the locker room up 36-25 but a slow start to second half saw the Cats clawing from behind until the finish. The Wildcats struggled from the field in the second half as they shot 33% from the field and 17% from three.
Defensively, the Wildcats could not contain Dawson in the second half as they were outscored 47-34. They outrebounded Dawson 39-38, with 15 offensive rebounds.
Sam Baker led the Cats with 27 points. Baker also corralled 7 boards and dished out 5 assists. Marquis Hollman added 13 points on 5 of 8 shooting.
This was the first conference loss in 30 games for the Wildcats. Their record moves to 20-5 and 7-1 in the Mon-Dak. Up next, NDSCS travels to Bismarck State College on Thursday the 8th. Tip-off is set for 7:30 PM.
