"It means the world. I am thankful to my coaching staff, teammates, and family. Without them, this wouldn't be possible," said Newbern.
Coach Engen shared, "Peyton has worked extremely hard at NDSCS on his game, improving tremendously as a scorer, great passer, and guard. Peyton is a team-first player willing to sacrifice individual stats for the team's good. He is also a positive leader who can communicate with his teammates. I couldn't ask for more as a player or person. Peyton is well deserving of this award."
The Wildcats finished the season 1st in the conference; winning the Region Championship. The Wildcats finished the season with an overall record of 31-2 and 21-1 in Mon-Dak play.
