Three NDSCS Wildcats Men’s Basketball Players Earn Postseason Honors
Wahpeton, ND – Three NDSCS men's basketball athletes were named to the Mon-Dak Men's Basketball All-Region teams.
Peyton Newbern was named to the Mon-Dak All-Conference first team, Kaleb Larson and Aaron Williams Jr. were named to the second team All-Region, and Head Coach Stu Engen was named Coach of the Year.
"I'm proud of the representation that we had on the all-conference teams. It is a direct result of our student athletes work ethic, competitiveness, and character. All of our players sacrificed individual statistics in order for our team to achieve maximum success. It takes talented players to have success and you can tell it is the case this year with the amount of all conference performers we have," commented Head Coach Stu Engen.
Peyton Newbern was the leading scorer for the Wildcats with 14.7 points per game while averaging 5.2 rebounds per game and 4.5 assists per game. Newbern was named Mon-Dak Player of the Year, leading the league in assists per game.
Kaleb Larson led the Wildcats in three pointers made with 74 and finished 6th in the league in 3 point field goal percentage, shooting 41.6% from the floor. He averaged 11.5 points per game.
Aaron Williams Jr. was the 2nd leading scorer for the Wildcats this season, finished 11th in total made 3s in the conference, while averaging 11.7 points and 2.2 rebounds per game
The Wildcats are currently 31-1 overall on the season and finished with a 21-1 record in conference play.
