Bio
North Dakota State College of Science Coach Gach Gach has announced the hiring of Kevin Goffney to its men’s basketball staff, replacing the spot vacated by Brad Shaw in his departure to Fort Hayes Tech Northwest.
Goffney brings a wealth of basketball knowledge and experience to the NDSCS Men’s Basketball program. A standout collegiate player, Kevin Goffney played a pivotal role in leading the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga to back-to-back SOCON Division Championships and an NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament berth. As a top 15 performer in multiple categories, including scoring, rebounding, assists, steals, and FG% during his time at UTC, he demonstrated a high level of skill, leadership, and dedication on the court.
Prior to his success at UTC, Kevin Goffney excelled at Pratt Community College, where he led his team to a 24-8 record and earned All-Conference and First Team All-Jayhawk honors. His exceptional performance also made him a runner-up MVP for the conference, highlighting his ability to compete at a high level and contribute significantly to team success.
Kevin further showcased his talent as a professional athlete, playing in the NBA D-League and for several years internationally in multiple countries. His professional career includes leading Siarka Tarnobrzeg to a Cup Championship in Poland, earning top 10 rankings in scoring and steals, and becoming the first-ever All-Star selection in the team's history. In Africa, he continued to dominate, finishing in the top 5 in scoring, assists, rebounding, and steals, while also leading his team to an African Championship and earning MVP honors in the league tournament.
As a coach and mentor, Kevin Goffney has been instrumental in developing players to reach their full potential, while coaching and training through his program Grind Time, including coaching several athletes to achieve either all-state honors and scholarships at various levels or playing professionally. His extensive experience in both playing and coaching, combined with his passion for the game and a deep commitment to player development, makes him an asset to the NDSCS basketball program, where he is committed to helping student-athletes excel both on and off the court.
