Softball Goes 4-0 Out in Glendive
Softball Sweeps Dawson CC
The NDSCS Softball team traveled to Glendive, MT to take on Dawson CC for four games. The Wildcats were able to come out ahead in all four of their games by scores of 8-6, 9-0, 5-4, and 9-4.
In the first game, the Wildcats found themselves tied up after five innings by a score of 5-5. The 'Cats put together a three run sixth inning to put them ahead 8-5. Dawson got one run in during the bottom of the seventh, but it wasn't enough as the Wildcats took the 8-6 victory. Kendyl Moss had a big game for NDSCS going 3-4 at the plate with two runs scored and two RBIs. Emma Johnson picked up the win going five innings giving up eight hits, five runs (two earned), and striking out seven. Ella Stewart got the save by going one inning pitched, striking out all three batters she faced. The Wildcats had 11 hits in the game as well as six stolen bases.
The second game was a masterpiece from Ella Stewart who pitched four innings giving up one hit and striking out six. The Wildcats got three quick runs in the second inning as well as five more in the fourth inning. The Wildcats were able to blank the Bucs 9-0 in five innings. Blythe Proulx went 2-3 at the plate with two runs scored and four RBIs with a Home Run. Meridith Frey went 3-3 with one run scored and two RBIs. The 'Cats had 10 hits in the game.
The third game was a close contest as NDSCS held a 5-3 lead going into the seventh when Dawson scored a run in the seventh to cut the lead to one. NDSCS was able to get the win with Stewart collecting her second save on the weekend. Heeley Taylor pitched five innings giving up five hits with three runs (one earned) and one strikeout. Caitlyn Dannenfelzer went 1-4 with two runs scored and an RBI in the game. Five different Wildcats each had one RBI. The 'Cats had eight hits with four stolen bases.
In the final game of the series, NDSCS' bats stayed hot as they came away with a 9-4 victory. Emma Johnson picked up the win for the 'Cats going four innings without giving up a hit, walk, or run. Rayelle Cooley went 3-4 at the plate with two runs scored and an RBI. Heeley Taylor went 2-4 with two RBIs. Five players for NDSCS had multiple hits in the game accumulating to 12 total hits for the game.
The Wildcats are now 14-10-1 on the year and are now 4-0 in conference play. The Wildcats have a busy weekend coming up where they'll play Rochester CTC and St Cloud CTC on Friday. They'll then play Bismarck State for four games on Saturday and Sunday.
