Softball Sweeps Out in Bismarck
Two Wins by Scores of 13-2 and 5-1
NDSCS Softball went 2-0 out in Bismarck against Bismarck State College on Wednesday.
The first game saw Ella Stewart get the win in five innings where she went all five innings giving up five hits, 2 runs (both earned), and five strikeouts. Heeley Taylor had a huge day at the plate going 2-4 with two runs scored and five RBIs. Rayelle Cooley also had a big game at the plate going 3-4 (including a triple and a home run) with two runs scored and two RBIs. Meridith Frey had three RBIs while Emma Johnson added two RBIs and Jessi Mathews added another. The Wildcats got off to a big start scoring four runs in the first inning. The Wildcats blew it open in the top of the fifth where they scored an additional six runs to finish the game at a final score of 13-2. The Wildcats had 15 hits on the game and only one error.
The second game on the day saw Emma Johnson go five and two-thirds innings giving up five hits and one run (unearned). Johnson struck out 12 of the 24 batters that she faced on the day with only two walks. Blythe Proulx was great at the plate going 2-4 with two runs scored and three RBIs including a home run. Heeley Taylor went 3-4 at the plate with an RBI and Katie Edmonds also had an RBI in the game. The Wildcats had 13 hits on the game. Ella Stewart picked up the save going 1.1 innings with a strikeout.
The Wildcats now sit at 16-10-1 with a 6-0 Mon-Dak record. The Wildcats are set to play three games on Friday in Rochester for their next games.
