Softball Splits in Miles City
NDSCS Softball went 2-2 on the weekend out in Miles City, MT where they played four games against Miles CC.
The first game saw a lot of offense from both teams with Miles taking the game by a score of 8-9. Heeley Taylor went five and two-thirds innings giving up three runs (two earned) on six hits facing 26 batters. Offensively, Caitlyn Dannenfelzer went 3-5 at the plate with three RBIs and a run scored. Kendyl Moss added the other RBI for the 'Cats.
Grace Folkema took the mound in the second game where she went four innings and struck out six of the 19 batters that she faced. Folkema picked up her sixth win on the year as the Wildcats' offense was able to score 12 runs on 13 hits to lead them to a 12-4 win. Dannenfelzer had another three RBI game while Emma Johnson went 3-3 with three runs scored and three RBIs. Dannenfelzer, Johnson, and Blythe Proulx each had a home run in the game as well.
Sunday's first game saw Miles get out to a big lead early and they didn't look back taking the third game by a score of 1-8. Rayelle Cooley had the lone run and RBI as she hit a solo home run in the third inning.
The bats came alive in the fourth and final game as the Wildcats were able to put together a 14-9 win to close out the four game weekend. Emma Johnson started for the 'Cats and went five innings giving up five runs (four earned) on six hits. Dannenfelzer and Proulx both went deep in the game. Proulx was huge at the plate going 3-4 with two runs scored and six RBIs in the game. The Wildcats scored 14 runs on 14 hits. The Wildcats stole a total of 11 bases in the final game of the series.
NDSCS is scheduled to travel to Central Lakes College in Brainerd for two games on Friday before returning home to take on Dakota College at Bottineau for a four game series starting on Saturday.
