Wildcats Move to 12-2 in Conference
The NDSCS Softball team were rolling this weekend as they put together some big wins against Dakota College at Bottineau by scores of 20-0, 17-1, 27-0, and 13-1. The Wildcats are now 27-12-1 on the season including 12-2 in the Mon-Dak Conference.
In game one, Heeley Taylor pitched for the 'Cats giving up only one hit with five strikeouts through three innings. Grace Folkema came in and struck out six of the seven batters she faced. Taylor now has a 7-2 record on the year. The bats were alive throughout the game with many players picking up RBIs. Blythe Proulx hit a home run to go along with four RBIs. Rayelle Cooley, who is batting .476 on the year, went 3-3 with three runs scored and four RBIs. The Wildcats scored 17 runs in the first two innings of the opening game where they came out on top 20-0 in five innings.
Ella Stewart took the mound in game two where she threw three hitless innings and struck out three to move to 5-2 on the year. Emma Johnson hit her fourth home run on the year to go with three RBIs in the game. Grace Harmider added three RBIs as well in the game. The Wildcats scored 17 runs on 10 hits to take a 17-1 win.
On Sunday, Emma Johnson got the start for the 'Cats with a perfect three innings pitched striking out five of the nine batters she faced in her three innings. Between Johnson and Ella Stewart, the Wildcats threw a combined no-hitter. Johnson moves to 7-5 on the year. The Wildcats got off to a huge lead going up 18-0 after just two innings. Proulx hit her ninth home run on the year to go along with four RBIs. Makalya LaChance went 2-3 with four RBIs and three runs scored. Heeley Taylor, Emma Johnson, and Ava Howard each had three RBIs. NDSCS scored 27 runs on 23 hits while committing zero errors on defense leading to a 27-0 win.
Grace Folkema got the start in the final game of the four game series against DCB where she went three innings giving up two hits and one earned run while striking out six. Rayelle Cooley went 3-3 with a home run and five RBIs to lead the Wildcats. Caitlyn Dannenfelzer also went 3-3 on the game with three RBIs and three runs scored. The Wildcats scored 13 runs on 15 hits committing zero errors on defense for a 13-1 win.
