Softball Picks up Two Wins at Morningside
Wildcats Play Two More Today at DWU
The NDSCS Softball team traveled to Sioux City, IA to play two games against Morningside JV. The Wildcats came away with two victories by scores of 9-0 and 4-1. In the two games, the Wildcats only gave up two total hits.
Grace Folkema started the first game where she went four innings and gave up only one hit and two walks. Folkema struck out seven on her way to her ninth win on the year. Meredith Frey went 2-3 on the game with three RBIs and one run scored. Ava Howard also went 2-3 on the game with three RBIs and three runs scored. The Wildcats had five players get multiple hits in the game and as a team, they stole five bases. The Wildcats scored nine runs on 13 hits with zero errors to lead them to a 9-0 victory.
In the second game of the day, Emma Johnson was able to pick up her eigth win on the year going five innings and giving up one run (unearned) with zero hits and only one walk. Johnson struck out five in the win. Heeley Taylor got her first save on the year as well where she went one inning with zero hits and a strikeout. Caitlyn Dannenfelzer had a big game at the plate and on the bases where she went 3-4 with two runs scored and three stolen bases. Rayelle Cooley and Emma Johnson had an RBI each in the game. The Wildcats scored four runs on 14 hits with one error. NDSCS came away with a 4-1 win to improve their record to 29-12-1.
The next game for the Wildcats will be later today at Dakota Wesleyan where they'll play at 3 PM and 5 PM.
