#2 Wildcats Make it 15 Straight With Sweep Over BSC
Emma Johnson Hits Walk off Homerun for the 'Cats
The NDSCS Wildcats Softball team hosted Bismarck State College on Wednesday with a ranking of #2 in the NJCAA D3 rankings as well as a 13 game winning streak.
In the first game, the Wildcats were hot at the plate scoring 14 runs on 15 hits. Five Wildcats had multiple RBIs (Rayelle Cooley (2), Kendyl Moss (2), Blythe Proulx (2), Ava Howard (2), and Meridith Frey (3)) and Heeley Taylor also had an RBI. Frey hit her first home run on the year. Taylor and Proulx both went 3-3 at the plate. Ella Stewart pitched four innings giving up two hits and two walks along with two runs (both earned) while striking out three batters to get her eighth win on the year. The Wildcats came away with a 14-2 victory in the first game.
In the second game, the Wildcats went into the bottom of the sixth inning down 0-1. Rayelle Cooley got an RBI scoring Meridith Frey to knot it up 1-1. In the bottom of the seventh inning, Emma Johnson stepped up to the plate and blasted a walk off home run to give the Wildcats a 2-1 victory. Heeley Taylor started for the Wildcats going five innings giving up three hits and one earned run. Grace Folkema came in to pitch two innings where she gave up one hit and came away with her eleventh win on the year.
The Wildcats (35-12-1) play Lake Region State College today up in Devils Lake, and they'll travel to Williston to play four more games on Saturday and Sunday.
