Wildcats Sweep Lake Region
Extends Win Streak to 17
The Wildcats Softball team traveled to Devils Lake to take on Lake Region on Thursday where they came away with two wins by scores of 8-1 and 11-4. The two wins extend the Wildcats winning streak to 17 games.
Grace Folkema took the mound in game one where she went four innings giving up two hits and one earned run. Folkema had four strikeouts and picked up her 12th win on the year. Emma Johnson came in for relief to pitch the final three innings striking out five batters. The 'Cats were led at the plate by Blythe Proulx who went 2-4 with two RBIs and a run scored as well as Makalya LaChance who was 2-3 with two RBIs and a run scored. NDSCS had 10 stolen bases in the game. Rayelle Cooley went 2-4 with an RBI and a run scored and Jessi Mathews went 1-3 with an RBI and a run scored. The Wildcats scored eight runs on seven hits and committed two errors in their 8-1 win.
NDSCS had six players with multiple hits in game two with Rayelle Cooley, Ava Howard, and Kendyl Moss each having three hits. The Wildcats had a total of 18 hits leading to 11 runs scored in the game. Ella Stewart got the start where she went three innings giving up seven hits and three runs (two earned) striking out six. Heeley Taylor came in for three innings giving up two hits and one unearned run. Taylor picked up her eighth win on the year. Game two saw the 'Cats steal nine bases (19 total steals on the day) while LaChance had three RBIs, Ava Howard had two RBIs, and Kendyl Moss had two RBIs.
The Wildcats move to 37-12-1 (18-2 Mon-Dak) and will play Williston State College on Saturday and Sunday this week in Williston
