Seven NDSCS Softball Players Honored
Mon-Dak Releases All-Conference Team. Johnson receives Most Valuable Pitcher. Oehlke receives Coach of the Year.
NDSCS Softball was well represented in this year's All-Conference selections. A total of seven NDSCS student-athletes were recognized.
Most Valuable Pitcher -
Emma Johnson. Johnson had a big year on the mound for the Wildcats this season with an 11-5 record in 31 apperances and 96.1 innings pitched. Johnson had a 1.82 ERA and gave up a total of 68 hits and 15 walks. Johnson had a total of 98 strikeouts on the year while batters had a .192 batting average against her this year. Johnson had a .948 fielding percentage as well. As a batter, Johnson went 51-137 for a .372 batting average with 34 runs scored, 47 RBIs, and six home runs.
1st Team All-Conference -
Grace Folkema - Sophomore Pitcher. Folkema had a 13-4 record on the year with 77.2 innings pitched in 29 apperances. Folkema had a 2.70 ERA giving up 61 total hits and 30 earned runs while striking out 109 batters. Folkema's batting average against her was a .202.
Rayelle Cooley - Freshman 2nd Base. Cooley went 72-162 at the plate this year good for a .444 batting average. Cooley scored 53 runs, had 50 RBIs, six home runs, and 18 stolen bases. Cooley also had a .920 fielding percentage.
Ella Stewart - Freshman Pitcher. Stewart had a 9-2 record in 82.1 innings pitched where she led the team with a 1.79 ERA. Stewart gave up a total of 67 hits and 21 earned runs while striking out 118 batters. Opponents batted .211 against Stewart this year.
Blythe Proulx - Freshman Outfield. Proulx had a .401 batting average this season while she led the team in both home runs (12) and RBIs (54).
Caitlyn Dannenfelzer - Sophomore Catcher. Dannenfelzer had a .394 batting average going 56-142. Dannenfelzer hit six home runs on the year to go along with 41 RBIs and a team leading 65 runs scored. Dannenfelzer and Proulx both had 27 walks on the year to lead the team. Dannenfelzer also had an impressive .988 fielding percentage.
Coach of the Year -
Mike Oehlke. This is Coach Oehlke's secoind Mon-Dak Coach of the Year award.
Sportsmanship Team -
Maylee Lowell. Lowell went 8-50 on the year with 11 runs scored. Lowell also posted a .955 fielding percentage.
