Softball Preview Against Surry
NDSCS Will Play at 10AM (Eastern Time) on the NJCAA Network
The Wildcats come into the first round of the NJCAA DIII Softball World Series with a 49-13-1 record. NDSCS is leading the nation in runs scored, total bases, stolen bases, as batters. The Wildcats pitching leads the nation in ERA, WHIP, total wins, saves, and strikeouts. The Wildcats defense is also fifth in the nation in fielding percentage and lead the nation in put outs. Individually, the 'Cats have four players in the top 20 in RBIs on the year: Rayelle Cooley (5th, 58 RBI), Blythe Proulx (7th, 56 RBI), Emma Johnson (12th, 53 RBI), and Kendyl Moss (20th, 46 RBI). Proulx is also tied for third in the nation in home runs with 13. The Wildcats have three players in the top 10 for runs scored with Caitlyn Dannenfelzer (3rd, 69 R), Meridith Frey (4th, 64 R), and Cooley (8th, 57 R). Frey leads the nation in stolen bases with 58.
The Wildcats also have one of the best pitching groups in the NJCAA led by Emma Johnson to go along with Grace Folkema, Heeley Taylor, and Ella Stewart. Each of the pitchers are highly ranked in most statisitcal categories.
Surry comes into the game with a 21-30 record. Surry averages 5.8 runs scored per game and are batting .324 on the year as a team. Their ERA on the year is 6.1 with a WHIP of 2.01
