The Lady Wildcats opened conference play hosting United Tribes Tech at the Clair T. Blikre Activities Center on Jan. 8 cruising to a 95-55 victory. NDSCS jumped out to an early 33-13 lead after the first quarter and never looked back.
Freshman Abby Johnson led the way for the Wildcats with 15 points and tied the team-high eight rebounds. Besides Johnson, five other NDSCS players scored in double-digits. Sophomores Dayuna Johnson (13 points) and Georgia Perrot-Hunt (10 points) both averaged double figures and both are averaging 22 minutes for the Wildcats.
Freshman Lauren Johnson added 11 points, Mina Porte finished with 13 points and eight rebounds and Jolisa Ross contributed with 10 points. Power Forward Tera-Nay Lee added seven rebounds on the night.
The Lady Wildcats, 15-2 (1-0), hit the road for a tough match-up against Dawson Community College in Glendive, MT on Jan. 11 with a huge 68-52 road win. The NDSCS team started off strong jumping out to an 18-8 lead after the first quarter and transitioned into half time with a 37-23 lead.
Sophomore Dayuna Johnson controlled the tempo for NDSCS with a team-high 19 points. Abby Johnson had a huge game for the Wildcats going 5-for-8 from field goal range with 13 points. NDSCS forced 21 turnovers against Dawson and accumulated 10 steals on the night. With this win, the Wildcats move to 2-0 in conference and 16-2 overall.
NDSCS will hosted Bismarck State on Monday Jan. 22, with a 5:30 p.m. tip-off and then hit the road for a match-up against Lake Region on Wednesday Jan. 17, with a 6:30 p.m. start time.
