NDSCS Women's Basketball Made history March 22 becoming the first Women's Basketball team in school history to Win a game in the National Tournament. The Wildcats, who were ranked #21 heading into the tournament, defeated #12 Eastern Arizona Gila Monsters. The Cats came back from 13 points down in the 3rd quarter and ended up winning 72-66. Ivy Fox sealed the game late with a 3 pointer and two big free throws.
The Wildcats were led by Arianna Berryhill with 24 points, Tiny Lewis with 14 points, Ivy Fox with 12 points, and Quinn Neppl with 11 points. Maile Hunt and Grace Massaquoi added 4 and 3 points respectively, and Nadia Post and Jordan Toman each added 2 points. Every single player made a field goal in their historic win.
The Wildcats also tied the record for most wins in a season with 30, were undefeated 15-0 at home, and broke school records for most points in a season – 2739 and most rebounds in a season - 1613. The Back-to-Back Conference, Region, and District Champions had two Mon-Dak First Team All-Conference selections- Ivy Fox and Grace Massaquoi and one Second Team All-Conference selection- Tiny Lewis. Arianna Berryhill and Quinn Neppl were also double digit scorers for the Wildcats.
NDSCS will be losing two Sophomores- Maile Hunt and Nadia Post. Their time here included 60 wins which are the most by any player in school history. Maile from Highland, Utah is evaluating her options and looking to continue her basketball career. Maile Averaged 10.8 Points, 15.6 Rebounds, and 2.2 Blocks over the last 9 games of the season. Nadia Post from Glenburn, ND will be moving on to Minot State as a student where she looks to receive a degree in Nursing. Their leadership and positive attitudes will be missed as they move on.
