Wildcats Win the Mon-Dak Preseason Tournament
Berryhill's Free Throws Seal it for the 'Cats Westling named MVP
The NDSCS Women's Basketball team played in the championship game of the Buster Gilliss Mon-Dak Tip-Off Classic in New Town, ND against Williston State College. The game was evenly matched throughout the entirety of the game and came down to the very last second. Down 1 point with 4.7 seconds left, Mia Berryhill inbounded the ball on the sideline to Ava Boyes, Boyes handed it back to Berryhill who turned the corner and attacked the hoop at full speed. While going up for the layup, Berryhill was hit across the arm drawing a foul and two free throws with 0.4 seconds left. Berryhill calmly sunk the two free throws to put the Wildcats up one. WSC didn't get a shot off at the end before the buzzer went off and the Wildcats came away with a 58-57 victory and their first Mon-Dak Preseason Tournament Championship since 2021.
Maggie Westling was named the MVP of the tournament averaging 19.3 PPG along with 10.0 RPG.
The Wildcats are back in action on Friday as they host NIACC at 5 PM inside the Blikre Activies Center in Wahpeton.
