North Dakota State College of Science is back in the NJCAA D2 Top 20 Poll after dropping out of last week’s edition, sliding in at No. 20 in this week’s poll released Monday evening.
The rankings were released prior to the Wildcats sweep of No. 19 Bismarck State College on Monday in Wahpeton.
NDSCS (12-4) has won 10 of its last 12 matches, including three straight wins overall. In fact, the Cats have won 20 of their last 23 sets.
Monday’s win at Ed Werre Arena also marked the program’s 81st victory in its last 90 home matches, one of the nation’s top home winning percentages over the last half decade.
The Mon-Dak Conference currently has a logjam at the top, with NDSCS, Bismarck State and Miles CC all tied for first. All three teams have exchanged losses with each other at this point, leaving the conference championship and homecourt during the Region 13 Tournament.
Parkland (IL) retained its No. 1 ranking nationally behind a 27-1 record entering the week. Defending national champion and undefeated Coffeyville (KS) comes in at No. 2. Johnson County (KS), Catawba Valley (NC) and Fort Scott (KS) round out the top five.
Two of the Cats' four losses have come against teams that were nationally ranked at the time of the match. The Wildcats also own a win over No. 13 Kirkwood.
NDSCS will visit Mayville State on Sep. 25 in a nonconference tilt before returning to Mon-Dak action on Oct. 2 at Lake Region State.
