'Cats VS. Cancer Night Sees 'Cats Win
The annual 'Cats VS. Cancer Night at NDSCS saw the Wildcats prevail against Dawson CC.
The Wildcats got off to a hot start after Sheridan Brown had back to back aces to put NDSCS up 3-0 early. Four of the first seven points for the 'Cats were aces. The Wildcats kept rolling throughout the first set with very clean defense and passing setting up the Wildcats offense. Samantha Kohl continued her dominant ways with some massive kills. The final point was set up by Payton Foster for Kaylee Stegora to finish the kill. The Wildcats looked great throughout the first winning 25-11.
The Wildcats started strong again in the second set taking complete control of the play at the net. The Buccaneers had a hard time getting points at the net due to the blocking defense from the Wildcats. Foster continued setting up her teammates brilliantly highlighted by big kills from Katelyn Stalboerger and Allie Rushing. The Wildcats built a commanding 19-9 lead during the second set leading to a Buccaneers timeout. The Wildcats stayed strong to the finish of the second set winning 25-12.
Set three started the Buccaneers way getting off to a quick 9-4 lead. The Wildcats got down 6-13 and found their way to claw back to bring it within 2 at 12-14 forcing another DCC timeout. The Wildcats were able to tie it up 14-14 off an Abby Johnson ace. The Buccaneers found their rhythm and won the third set 25-20.
The fourth set saw the Wildcats build a commanding lead early and they never let go of that lead. Abby Johnson had a string of serves ending up in Wildcat points building a 13-4 lead. The Foster to Stegora duo was working as well seeing bigtime assists and kills by the duo. The Wildcats proved to be too much throughout the set winning the fourth and final set by a score of 25-9.
This win is the Wildcats' 10th win in a row, and Coach Jane Passa's 695th career win.
The Wildcats return this weekend where they travel to Nebraska to play four games starting on Friday.
