NDSCS Volleyball Knocks off BSC

NDSCS came into this game at 8-1 in the Mon-Dak, while Bismarck State College came in at 8-0.
The game started off with the Wildcats getting back to back points from blocks at the net. The Wildcats jumped out to a very quick 10-2 lead playing solid team volleyball. Both teams put together runs throughout the first and both teams showed why they're number 1 and 2 in the Mon-Dak Conference. NDSCS built a solid 16-11 lead. Allie Rushing stopped a small BSC run with a monster kill on the left side right through the Mystics defense. BSC came all the way back from down eight to take the lead 18-17. BSC called a timeout after the Wildcats took the lead back 22-21 and took the lead back 22-23 after the timeout. NDSCS then called a timeout and tied it right back up. BSC took the final two points after a long rally and took the 1-0 lead.
The Wildcats came out aggressive with some big kills by Samantha Kohl and Katelyn Stalboerger. Neither team could really get a big run going as the game got to 9-9 start. A quick 5-0 run by the 'Cats was capped off by a massive kill by Kohl. The Wildcats started to roll, building up a 22-16 lead late in the set. BSC had one run left in them though getting the score back to 1 at 23-22. The Wildcats were able to finish off the set after Kohl tipped one over the net to a small opening to get the set win 25-22 knotting the game up at 1-1.
The defense ramped up in the third set for the Wildcats building a quick 10-7 lead. Stalboerger and Mia Miller had some big blocks preventing the Mystics hitters from getting anything going. The 'Cats continued to grow their lead up to 17-10. NDSCS controlled the entire third set winning by a score of 25-17 to go up 2-1.
The fourth set got off to a good start with the serving from the Wildcats making it very difficult to set up the offense for BSC. NDSCS got the lead up to 21-15 after a big block from Stalboerger. Rushing made a big tip play to stop a BSC run making the lead 22-19. BSC went on another quick 3-0 run to tie the match up 22-22. Kohl put the game away with her final kill for the night getting the Wildcats the 25-23 match win, and a 3-1 game win.
This win puts Coach Jane Passa at 699 career wins.
The Wildcats are next in action on Tuesday as they take on Dakota College at Bottineau.
